A God-fearing and selfless woman; genuine and happy and good; a beautiful mother, grandmother of multi-generations, relative, and friend; a lively, energetic soul, steadfast and loyal; our Angel.

Our beloved mother, grandmother of multi-generations, Delores Victoria Dudley, nicknamed “Sid” entered into this world on May 14, 1933 in Washington, DC to the late loving parents Linwood Dudley and Annie Jones Dudley. Delores was raised in a Christian home, baptized, confirmed, and as a child attended St. Vincent DePaul Catholic Church. She also attended St. Joseph’s and St. Mary’s Catholic Churches as an adult. She was a committed believer in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and extolled the virtues of her Christian faith by her long-time support of many charitable organizations, including Basilica of the National Shrine of Immaculate Conception, Catholic Charities and Archdiocese of Washington, St. Jude’s Hospital, Leukemia Foundation, The American Red Cross, Women’s Breast Cancer Research and many others.

On Monday, November 11, 2024, Delores’ earthly journey ended and, based on her faith in Jesus Christ transitioned to a far better place, where her spirit Rests in Peace. In her final hours, she was surrounded by love from her family and friends.

Affectionately called “Sid” by her siblings and other family and friends, she was educated in DC Public Schools and attended Dunbar High School. She went on to work at the Packard, which was a Seafood restaurant that served freshly cooked fried fish and other seafood meals in DC. Her passion was cooking well-made delicacies in large portions, where the hunger of patrons was satisfied whenever she was on duty. Fish and seafood could be smelled for blocks well beyond the restaurant location and often drew customers based on its scent alone.

She then worked as a maintenance specialist at the U.S. Department of State, where she worked for many years and eventually retired. While there, she established many long-term friendships with coworkers and office workers who felt the love and sincerity in her heart, as a result of their outings and functions attended together over many years.

She also truly loved participating in family functions and cabarets, where she enjoyed seeing others have the time of their lives just living it up and having so much fun, joy and belly laughing. She was delighted with spending quality time during the holidays and summers with family, her grandchildren of multi-generations, and friends where she prepared her special dishes for all to enjoy.

Although we profoundly miss the physical presence of our matriarch of the Dudley family, we know that she is now our Angel in Heaven and our family will always honor her spirit.

Surviving and never forgetting her most beautiful character that will be forever cherished and never, ever forgotten are her daughters: Sharon T. Bell, Valerie A. Brannon, Sabrina Y. Dudley, sons: Derrick A. Dudley Sr. (Deborah), Kevin Brigman, and Keith F. Brigman. In addition, she was preceded in death by her beloved companion: Perry Brigman; children: Gail M. Cole, Michael X. Dudley, Darren Dudley, and Eric Dudley; siblings: Lawrence Dudley, Mary Dudley, James Dudley, Linwood Dudley, Melvin Dudley, Odessa Dudley Hartgrove, Daisy Dudley Grimes, Juanita Dudley, Clarence L. Dudley, Robert Dudley, Michael Dudley, and Walter Dudley. Moreover, she is survived by a host of grandchildren of multi-generations, relatives and friends.
