Damian Lonnell Smith

February 19, 1977 — July 8, 2025

Glen Burnie, MD

Damian Lonnell Smith, age 48, died in Hospice of Howard County on 7/8/2025. Writing poetry has always been Damian's passion, along with his commitment to loving his family unconditionally and always looking out for others.

Damian and his ex-wife (Allison) moved to Columbus, OH, with their family where he lived for 14 years. He moved back home in 2013. In August 2024, Damian received a Stage 4 Glioblastoma cancer diagnosis. Based on his decision to forgo further therapy, he was given a minimum of two months to live. He was fortunate enough to spend nearly eight more months with his family, sharing his adventure. We can all learn from Damian's path. Throughout his ten months, he showed joy, peace, and strength. During those ten months, he gave me the best of him while facing the most challenging period of his life.

Damian is survived by his "Mommy" Darlene Holland (Step-Dad Roland Holland); father, David Smith, his ex-wife, Allison Smith; their sons, Tyson and Darian, now residing in Columbus, OH; his daughter, Tru Grace Cofer of Ohio; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his younger brother, Sean Jacobs, his niece Addison Jacobs and nephew Andre Jacobs, his sister/cousin, Tamisha Smith, his brother/cousins, Robert Wood, Darrick Thomas and Emory Murray, his Bonus Sister, Tasha Holland, his Uncles Francis & Robert, his Great Aunt Catherine, and his Aunts Doris (Emory), Joyce (Cornel), Clarice (Louis), and a host of cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Robert & Helen Smith, his Aunt Helena (Rhodell) Wood and cousins Allan Hall and Daryl Smith.

At his request, Damian wished to be cremated, and a celebration of life will take place in the church basement or outside immediately following the service.
