Damian Lionell Smith, age 48, died in Hospice of Howard County on 7/8/2025. Damian, his ex-wife (Allison) moved to Columbus, OH, with their family where he lived for 14 years. Damian was diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer - Glioblastoma in August of 2024. He was given a minimum of 2 months to live, based on opting out for additional treatment. God blessed him to share his journey with his family for almost an additional 8 months. Damian’s journey has been a testament to us all. He demonstrated strength, joy, peace through all of his 10 months. He gave me the best 10 months during his most difficult time of his life.

Damian is survived by his "Mommy" Darlene Holland and Bonus Dad Roland Holland, his ex-wife, Allison Smith; their sons, Tyson and Darian, now residing in Columbus, OH; his daughter, Tru Grace Cofer of Ohio; and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his baby brother, Sean Jacobs, his niece Addison Jacobs and nephew Andre Jacobs, his sister/cousin, Tamisha Smith, his brother/cousins, Robert Wood, Darrick Thomas and Emory Murray, his Bonus Sister, Tasha Holland, his Uncles Francis & Robert, his Great Aunt Catherine Harrison, Aunts Doris, Joyce, Clarice, a host of cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents Robert & Helen Smith, his Aunt Helena Wood and cousins Allan Hall and Daryl Smith.

As per his request, Damian was cremated, and there will be a memorial service taking place at First Christian Church of Laurel on 7/18/25 There will be a life celebration in the church basement/outside immediately after the service.
